Videographer & Editor
Posted July 24, 2025
Full-Time, Hybrid (In-Person for Shoots, Based Out of Des Moines, IA; Remote for Editing)
We’re looking for a full-time Videographer & Editor to join our team. You’ll help bring projects to life from concept to final delivery, with a primary focus on editing, but with regular involvement in planning, shooting, and general production. You should be a strong storyteller, a capable shooter, and a thoughtful communicator who’s great with all types of clients—from executive directors of non-profits, to students at an elementary school, to high-profile religious figures.

This is a hybrid role: you’ll work remotely for editing and prep, but will be in-person for filming. You’ll need to live in or near Des Moines (or within ~1.5 hours and willing to travel for shoots).

What You’ll Do

-
Edit long-form (promotional, docu-style, etc.) and short-form (social media-focused) videos using DaVinci Resolve Studio
-
Collaborate on creative planning and storytelling approaches
-
Film interviews and b-roll using high-end cameras, audio, and lighting setups
-
Work directly with clients during shoots and revisions
-
Travel locally ~4–5 days per month, and out-of-state ~2–3 days/month
-
Manage gear, prep for shoots, back up footage, and maintain organized project files
-
Work with a passionate team to produce excellent work: on time, on message, and on mission

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves:

The Technicals:
-
Strong portfolio of work: examples of projects you've filmed, edited, or both
-
Mastery of DaVinci Resolve Studio for editing, sound, and color correction
-
Knowledge and experience shooting with high-end cameras, audio gear, and lighting set-ups
-
Some motion graphics or animation skills (particularly in creating intro/outro graphics and lower thirds)

The Intangibles:
-
Adaptability and professionalism. Our clients are predominantly non-profits, schools, and religious organizations, so we are looking for a team member who is equally good with kids and school environments, and respectful with high-profile members of the community
-
Creativity and initiative. We want you to bring new ideas to the table, ask, "What if we did _______ for our client?", and propose projects you find interesting and exciting
-
Superb self-motivation. With a greater portion of your time spent editing remotely, you must be able to achieve milestones and complete tasks without in-person supervision and with excellent attention to detail
-
Willing and able to travel for shoots

Nice-to-Haves:

-
Experience with nonprofit or mission-driven content
-
Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (especially After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom)
-
Photography experience. Having the ability to add-on photography and edited photo content to a deliverables package can provide a lot of extra value for our clients

Position Details

-
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week. ~8:30am–5:00pm (~30-min lunch). Flexible scheduling possible. Rare need for evening or weekend work: these shoots are communicated well in advance, and comparable time off is given when these shoots arise.
-
Location: Hybrid – based in/near Des Moines, IA
-
Salary: $50,000–$60,000, depending on experience
-
Report to: Ben Friedman, Owner, Totus Media. Weekly Totus Media team check-ins. Ben accompanies/collaborates on shoots if/when needed
-
Benefits: PTO, health insurance stipend, gear/equipment provided for shoots and editing, travel expenses covered
